Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world with a peak at 8,848 meters(29,029ft) above the sea level. From the center of the earth, it is measured as a 5th tallest mountain. Mount Everest is in the Mahalangur Range. It is located on the border between Sagarmatha Zone, Nepal and Tibet, China and is a part of the Himalayan Mountain Range. In Nepal it is known as Sagarmatha, it means goddess of the sky andIn China called as Chomolungma, it means mother goddess of the universe.

It is over 6- million years old. Below Earth surface, the continuous movement of the Indian plate slide towards the Asian plate is the reason for heavy earthquakes. Also, this is the main reason for Everest Formation before over 6 million years. In every year Everest grows by about a quarter of an inch. It consists of different types of shale, limestone, and marble.  It is covered with deep snow. In mid-May, the jet stream moves north causing the winds the calm and temperatures to warm enough for people to try to summit. K2 is the second-highest mountain on Earth, after Mount Everest with a peak 8611 meter (28,251ft) above the sea level.  It is located on the border between Baltistan, in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, and the Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous Country of Xinjiang, in China. K2 is the highest point of the Karakoram Range and the highest point in Pakistan. K2 is known as the “Savage Mountain”. It is also known as Mount Godwin-Austen or Chhogori.

K2 is the major mountain in the world which has surveyor's national as its common name, K stands for Karakoram and 2 means it was the second peak listed.

Mount Kanchenjunga lies about 125km east-south-east of Mount Everest. Kanchenjunga is called ‘Five Treasures Snow’ because of its five high peaks. Three of the five peaks are on the border between North Sikkim and Nepal and two peaks are in Nepal’s at Taplejung District. It is the second highest mountain in the Himalayas.

The KanchenjungaHimal section of Himalayas lies both in Nepal and India and encompasses 16 peaks over 7000m in the north.  It is a main highest mountain in India. Kanchenjunga has four climbing routes to reach the summit, three of which are in Nepal from the southwest, northwest, and northeast, and one from north-eastern Sikkim in India. From the hill station of Darjeeling, some of the most famous views of Kanchenjunga are seen.

Lhotse means “South Peak”  in Tibetan. It is located on the border between Tibet region of China and the Khumbu region of Nepal. South of Mount Everest its east-west crest is located. The western flake of Lhotse is known as the ‘Lhotse Face’. Lhotse has three summits: Lhotse Main is 8,516 meters, Lhotse Shar is 8,383 meters and Lhotse Middle is 8,413 meters. Lhotse is known as “technical” climb which means you need to use protection, climbing gear and full on hands and feet to gain the summit.

It is located in Mahalangur Himalayas southeast of Mount Everest, on the border between Nepal and China. The shape of Makalu peak is a four-sided pyramid. Makalu has two subsidiary peaks. It is one of the most difficult mountains to climb in the world. The final ascent of the summit pyramid involves technical rock or ice climbing. The first climb on Makalu was made by an American team led by William Siri in the spring of 1954.

Makalu-Barun Valley is a Himalayan glacier valley which is situated at the base of Makalu in the Sunkhuwasabha district of Nepal. This valley lies entirely inside the ‘Makalu Barun National Park.’

Dhaulagiri is the seventh highest mountain in the world at 8167 meters (26,795ft) above the sea level. It is located in north central Nepal.  In Nepal, the Dhaulagiri massif extends 120 km from the Kali and I River west to the Bheri. On the north and southwest by the tributaries of the Bheri River, this massif is bounded and on the southeast by MyagdiKhola. Along the main crest, several pyramid-shaped peaks rise. In 1960, a Swiss-Austrian team and two Sherpa’s were first climbed the Dhaulagiri Mountain in Nepal.

The Mountain’s name Dhaulagiri, in Nepal which comes from Sanskrit, where ‘Dhawala’ means dazzling, white, beautiful and ‘Giri’ means mountain, meaning “White Mountain”. Dhaulagiri is also the highest point of the Gandaki river basin. It rises 7000m from the Kali Gandaki River 30km to the southeast.

It is also known as “Kutang” in the Tibetan language, in which ‘tang’ means a flat place in Tibetan word.It is located in the MansiriHimal, part of the Nepalese Himalayas, in the west-central part of Nepal. The name Manaslu derived from the Sanskrit word Manasa meaning “Mountain of the Spirit”. On 9 May 1956, Manaslu was first climbed by Toshio Imanishi and GyalzenNorbu, Japanese members.

Nepals, Gorkha district is famous for the highest peak Manaslu. In the Gorkha district of Nepal, in the northern Himalayan range, Manaslu is serrated “wall of the snow and ice hanging in the sky”. The three sides of the mountain fall in steps to terraces down below, which are sparsely inhabited with agricultural operations practiced on the land. Apart from climbing, Manaslu is popular for trekking in this mountain region, as part of the Manaslu Circuit.There is six established trek route to the peak and on the Mountain, the south face is most difficult for climbing.There are major peaks in the region- Himachuli, Ngadichuli, Shringi, Langapo and Saula.

Naga parbatmeans  “Naked Mountain”.  It is located in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan between Chilas and Astore. Nanga Parbat is in the west of Himalayas. It lies just south of Indus River.  It is locally known as ‘Deo Mir’ in which Dio means ‘huge’ and Mir means ‘Mountain’. Nanga Parbat is difficult and dangerous for the climb.Its nickname is “Killer Mountain” because of many mountaineers death.

Nanga Parbat is one of only two peaks on Earth that rank in the top twenty of both the highest mountains and the most prominent peaks in the world, ranking ninth and fourteenth respectively. It is also the second most prominent peak of the Himalayas, after Mount Everest.On 26 February 2016, Nanga Parbat was first successfully climbed by a team of Ali Sadpara, Alex Txikon, and Simone Moro.

Annapurna is a group of the highest peaks of the Himalayas in north-central Nepal.  It contains one peak over 8000 meters in high. Also, contain total thirteen another peak over 7000 meters high. Also, contain sixteen highest peaks more over 6000 meters high. The massif is 55 kilometers long. It is bounded by the Kali Gandaki gorge on the west. On the north and east the Marshyangdi River. On the south Pokhara valley located. Annapurna Conservation Area, the first and largest conservation area in Nepal.

Annapurna is a Sanskrit name means “full of foods”, but it is translated as ‘Goddess of Harvests’. Annapurna peaks are a most dangerous mountain to climb among the world. Its summit was the highest summit attained for three years until the first summit ascent of Mount Everest. In 1978, the American Women’s, a team led by Arlene Blum, became the first United States team to climb Annapurna.  On 3rd February 1987, Jerzy Kukuczka and ArturHajzer made the first winter ascent of Annapurna.
